I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop and for a while, there was a 'ticking' sound (very soft) coming from the area where the A/C adapter would plug in. The battery would no longer charge so I bought a new one, which worked... until the battery ran out.
The battery works fine, is the correct one for my laptop and the A/C adapter is working as far as I know. There is a light on it that is on as long as it's plugged in, but the ticking sound has returned and the battery will not charge. The laptop is aware that the A/C adapter is plugged in (the light on the front is on), but no charging is happening. The adapter piece that plugs in is warm, which makes me think that this is a hardware problem inside my laptop.
Any suggestions? Also, could this be something that I can fix by simply going to Staples or the like? I have the worst luck with computers.
