Sony Vaio Monitor help?

OK I have a pcv-rs 420 computer. recently, i got a new monitor, mouse, and keyboard, but theyre all sony vaio peices, too ( i bought these from a garage sale). so eveything is new except my big block thing that you hook the mouse, keyboard and monitor into. so on my screen/monitor thingy i can only see i/2 of what im trying to see, whether i am on the internet or my desktop. how do i make everything smaller- its as if im only seint the top i cant reach the bottom?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!help please
