My internet browser on my sony vaio laptop freezes up on me when I open it up...?

I recently bought a pink Sony Vaio Laptop and I was finally able to connect to my wireless connection but every time I try to open up the internet browser it always freezes and i don't know how to fix it...I took it to staples, where I bought it, and they were able to get it working but when I returned home I was having the same problems... I turned off the firewall yet its still freezing and I know its not the connection at home because I am typing this question from my other laptop connected to a wireless network....please help Yeah when I took it back to staples they connected to it their wireless hot spot and went to a bunch of different sites to show me that it was working yet when i came home the problem wasnt fixed
