Default If u have a Sony desktop computer, does the CPU or hard drive have to be a Sony?

If I can use a different hard drive which brand of company would u recommend, and if it has Windows Vista on it do I need to or have to get a copy of Windows Vista so it can work properly?

Sony doesn't make CPUs so it's already not a Sony. The HDD isn't either.

Sony doesn't manufacture hard disk drives or CPUs. You can install any hard disk drive of your choice in your Sony computer as long your motherboard supports that interface. Quantum, Maxtor and Hitachi are decent hard disk drive manufacturers. But before you buy, make sure you are buying the compatible HDD (these days SATA and SATA II are most common HDDs).Similarly you have to check the CPU compatibility with your motherboard vendor. Common CPUs in Sony desktop computers are from Intel or AMD.If you are currently running windows Vista I would recommend to keep using Vista, however, most of Sony desktop computers support windows XP, Ubuntu Linux etc.
