Default Is a laptop hard drive in a desktop computer a bad idea?

I recently noticed that the main hard drive in my computer is laptop sized. This is the one that runs the operating system, programs, etc. I have had many problems with this computer and was wondering if this might be the problem?

It could be because a laptop never has parts as good as a desk top, even if the desk top is cheap. I'm sure it's not a laptop hard drive, it is probably just a 300gb or something lower.

It should be fine - hard drives should all work the same.
