What's wrong with the audio in my Dell Inspiron 9100 laptop?

I recently purchased a used Dell Inspiron 9100. The headphone jack didn't work. The speakers work fine. I bought a replacement headphone jack from ebay and installed it. Now, the headphones work but the speakers don't.Whether I have headphones installed or not, the speakers don't work. I've checked the audio menu and nothing is muted.
