Default Dell Inspiron 1520 Keyboard issue?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop that I've had for over a year now. Recently my keyboard on the laptop started to malfunction. Most of the letters and numbers I type do not work. I tried using a desktop keyboard and that works perfectly fine. I also replaced the keyboard on the laptop and it still refuses to work properly. The warranty on the laptop expired last month which sucks lol. I have NOT dropped or spilled anything on my laptop. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

I too use Dell inspiron... The keyboard is too delicate... Your problem might be due to the matrix array board inside the keyboard which sends scan codes to the respective keys which u press. The connection might be opened coz of ants or something else... You can very well check it by opening if u r confident of doing... or give the lap for servicing. Dell responds well for customer service...

If you replaced the keyboard properly and it still doesn't work maybe it's a software issue. Boot a Linux liveCD and see if the keys work there. If they do it's definitely a software problem (read "windows problem").Kanotix (http://kanotix.com - the preview release), Ubuntu (http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download ).In case you don't know what a liveCD is: it's a complete operating system which boots off a CD and it does NOT install anything to your hard drive unless you instuct it to. It's good to test the operating system without installing it.
