Please I need major help with my Acer Aspire 5100!?

My Acer Aspire 5100 laptop was slow. I figured it had spyware and so I decided just to reformat it because it's been about a year since it has been done. Well...apparently, I was putting in the wrong disks and getting annoyed because it wasn't working. Now that I have figured this out...I've tried countless times to run the recovery process and it keeps loosing power during it. The adapter is tight...I don't know what to do an I am frantic because I start school in two days and I need it for school. Please...HELP ME?!
